Mud Season at Crow Island
March 13, 2026

We flew 72C into Crow Island (8MA4) yesterday and were surprised to find things a bit softer than expected. After landing, we found ourselves in a soft spot that turned into a serious rut.
There are times when you just can't power your way out of it. We shut down and manhandled 72C out of the mud by hand. That's a very tired Nick in the photo after we got her free.
Spent a good 30 minutes cleaning 72C after we got back. The whole thing turned into some real "bush" flying — right here in Massachusetts.
The moral of the story: know when brute force isn't the answer. And there's no way we could have pulled that off in a C172 with a nosewheel. That thing would have been good and stuck.
